GARMONT® MASTERLITE WINS PRESTIGIOUS RED DOT AWARD:PRODUCT DESIGN 2011
Volpago del Montello (Treviso, Italy), March 16th 2011: GARMONT Srl, premier international producer of performance footwear for skiing, mountaineering, hiking, trail running and other outdoor pursuits , is pleased to announce that its MASTERLITE ski mountaineering boot has received one of the most coveted design prizes worldwide: the “red dot”.
This streamlined, elegant ski mountaineering boot designed by MM Design is one of the lightest in existence. Built for hard-core ski mountaineers who choose to go ultra-light whether touring or racing, the Masterlite is solid-skiing and easy to use. Inspired by nature, in particular leaves which are extremely light but can resist rain and snow thanks to their web-like reticular structure, the unique Pebax® WebFrame shell is reduced to its critical elements for a solid structure with ultralight weight. The Masterlite’s hardware is simple, effective, and fast. Its sole structure is stiff, springy and supportive. The specifically designed G-Fit Light liner is ultralight, fully custom-thermoformable and very supportive.
Commented Paul PARKER, Garmont® Product Manager: “We are very proud of this international accolade which is testimony to our passion for clean, innovative product design and recognition of our commitment to offering our customers best-in-class products designed to enhance outdoor performance.”
More than 1,000 guests from the world of design, industry, society and media will celebrate the winners of the red dot design award on July 4th 2011 in Essen, Germany. Winning products, including the Garmont Masterlite ski mountaineering boot, will then be on public display during a 4-week special exhibition “Design on stage – winners red dot award: product design 2011” in the red dot design museum at the world heritage site of the Zeche Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex in Essen.
“As always, our jury cast a very careful eye over the products submitted. Design quality has asserted itself clearly in the judging process, with genuine and new creative solutions also being rewarded. Both of these criteria are not just yardsticks for good design, but also for the potential for success on the market,” says Professor Dr. Peter Zec, the initiator of the red dot design award. This year, designers and companies from 60 countries entered 4.433 products in the red dot award for product design.
